Our Services

The Goat Livelihood Project

The Goat Livelihood project is an initiative where The Spinoza Foundation works with vulnerable children and youth and empowers their families through agriculture and entrepreneurship. We do this by providing these children and youth with a female goat and training the beneficiaries on the importance of the live asset they have received. We work with community leaders, para-social workers, and healthcare professionals to identify the beneficiaries and for project monitoring. Beneficiaries are encouraged to keep their goats and allow them to multiply and once they have four goats, they can sell a few for other basic needs. The hope is that these goats will become a source of economic empowerment and growth for the household, and that this economic growth will result in improved health and greater education opportunities. To date, we have supported 299 households with a female goat each. Some of the 2021 beneficiaries have reported having up to 6 goats in 2023 (a 500% rate of return on the gift they received from us!). We decided to provide goats after conducting field research with prospective beneficiaries and being advised that they wanted to receive goats because of the limited attention goats required and due to goats’ resistance to disease and harsh conditions.

Education Fund

The Spinoza Foundation strongly believes in the power of education and the ability of education to uplift households. As such, we are investing in the education of gifted children and youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. So far, we are supporting three children and youth with scholarship/ tuition fee support.

We believe that this gift of education will pave the way to a brighter future for these children, their families, and their communities.

Inspire Program

The Spinoza Foundation has organized leadership training workshops for student leaders in more than nine primary and secondary schools in Uganda. During these workshops, students learn about important life skills like team management, conflict resolution, resource mobilization, self-care, community involvement, project management, networking, social justice, and other important professional and personal skills. In addition to the workshops, The Spinoza Foundation coordinates mentorship opportunities for these students.
